Milking
This is Grandad Farm milking our cows in his parlour, along with some help from locals of the Hope Valley on Open Farm Sunday. Grandad Farm has milked our cows twice a day just about every day for the last 50 years, over 40 of those years in this parlour, which was one of the first parlours in Derbyshire. He can milk 10 cows at a time, 50 cows per hour. Our friends with fancy new parlours can milk over 120 cows in an hour. However, the farmers don’t get to spend as much time with each cow. Each of our cows produce an average of 25 litres of milk every day!
