Great Grandma and Great Grandad Milking.
Great Grandma Furness is milking with Great Grandad, holding Buttercup, the first heifer in the country to produce two thousand gallons of milk in her first lactation.
They used to milk them three times a day by hand. They farmed at Ringinglow just above Sheffield.
|Before that they farmed on Ecclesall Road at Cedar Farm, Banner Cross, back when it was still fields between Banner Cross and Dobbin Hill. They used to buy cows at Reading market, bring them back in a cattle wagon on the end of a train and walk them up through the centre of Sheffield to the family farm.|
